YAY - I'm back from the north and about to start school :)
BOO - i have no pictures for you :( i didn't take many good ones anyway!
1. Birthdays are alright. I just like parties, really.
2. My favorite birthday memory was not really any of them. I remember having one party that was that kind of party. It was mostly embarrassing.
3. A birthday tradition I (or my family) has is doing nothing and then something at the last minute. We kind of suck at birthdays around here.
4. If I had to choose one birthday meal to eat for the rest of my birthdays hence forward, I would choose tamales. Point blank. I'm also craving them right now. A side of rainbow cake is obviously expected.
5. My birthday is on March 18. I'm a Pices. A Peicies. "pie-SEEZ". Whatever. I'm the fish, and I can't spell.
6. If I could take a birthday trip I would go to France! :D
7. The best gift I've ever received for my birthday was errr. I have no idea. I suppose the FOB poster I got from robin in 7th grade which I still have !! My favorite poster.

happy things
new books:
(one down, one to go!)
(one down, one to go!)
yep, bought these two beauties in the airport friday morning. I couldn't make myself stop (!) so I just kept reading. Reading on the first flight to Atlanta, and during my extended layover, and on the delayed flight to Boston, and FINISHED before we even started descending :) I read the one on the left, The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins. It's wonderful really, although I'm a little frustrated that it's another series. I've been in the mood for stand alone books lately, which is just as well. I nearly always read series books, and I don't think I've read anything besides since last summer I think... except for school reading, which doesn't really count.
I've only read a couple pages of Atlas Shrugged. I am seriously excited about this book!

I went with my sister and her sister (yes, I know. it's complicated.) to Lowe's last night to look for some ceiling fans for the new house that my sister is moving into. We got distracted looking at paint chips and oh my goodness all the names!!!
ANYWAY :) It's a really old house and a bachelor - a teacher, too, nonetheless - lived in it for a number of years, so it needs a lot of work. Nothing really bad, but I don't think it's had an love for a while. Since codes have changed so much since the 50s, my sister and the headmaster are having it inspected and updated so that it's nice and safe for the two widdle kiddos.
Did I mention that the house is on campus and she's getting it free?! Well, last I heard it was going to be free. It's kind of small, and it's right in the corner of little circle of villa-style homes. Most of them have been transformed into classrooms, and the courtyard is nearly always full of school children drawing with chalk and whatnot. But she's an elementary school teacher anyway, and both the kiddos are attending the school now, so it just makes more sense. The house is a little small, and there's hardly any yard. But it's all cozy and she wont have to worry about making ends meet anymore, which means a couple more days a month that she can put money in savings and pay our dad back the old loan and pay bills and even spending a little on herself.
Surfing lesson today @ 2:30, and then some fun in the beach and town of Rye. Long drive but totally worth it.

Ridiculous
1. stressed is only desserts spelled backwards... [2/365],
2. Stress pigs Dave,
3. Mini feeling: relaxed,
4. stressthoughts
It is completely ridiculous how stressed out I am already.
I need Saturday to come faster. Like, now.
Also, I am doing nothing productive during the week after next.
Thank you very much.
But oh my, I have sooooooooooo much to do.
:*(
(those are tears, mind you)
And I really need to stop thinking about making a to-do list
because it is incredibly harmful to my well-being. Which means bad.
skgo;sjrgd = my mind. argh.
hope you're well.

Fill In The Blank #7
thanks to lauren and her blog, again!!
1. A very nostalgic place that reminds me of being a kid is the bus. I think almost all of my fond younger/childhood memories were made on the big yellow bus speeding us home.
2. If someone really wants to show me how much they love me they wouldn't feel the need to say it, or vice versa. they would just show it and know.
3. Lately I've been wondering a lot about college. don't even get me started.
4. When it comes to saving money I am too frugal sometimes.
5. I'd prefer animals over humans any day!
6. I wish I knew how to make those little origami stars; i never get them right.
7. I'm just waiting for scholarship application confirmations.

new color.
i was trying to go with a wizard of oz inspired color, but i couldn't find a good elphaba green. so i was trying to get glinda powaer blue that looks good on both grey and white. it's a fail. maybe i should look into some death eater scarlet?

1. My favorite thing about this week has been taking tape off of the windows that I worked on for the Annie set - the new york city skyline. Lovely.
well, this isn't the set.
i'll have to take some pictures
either tomorrow or sunday.

2. The weather this week has been too random. figure out the summer yet, texas?
3. The last (interesting) item I received in the mail was some stupid college change your life letter. I have my list of colleges, and I'll figure out what I want without your help, thanks.
4. The last movie I saw was errr Sorcerer's Stone, last night. Partly. A new one? Avatar about a month ago.
5. If I could be doing anything I felt like today I would not change anything. Today just happened to end well. It's basically what I want to do. I would rather be on stage than watch it, but I did have a second row seat.
Easily the best crew job.
Sweeping the stage.

It was hard to find some good pictures that captured theatre well and not just with the professionals and Wicked. Also, I wanted to go with a handful of different Annie's, in honor of my hours being put in this month. But, there was only the movie version.
Here you go ;)
Shakespeare + modern day kitchen + black and white = awesome juxtaposition.

LOOK AT WHAT I MADE!
H E X A G O N!
I was organizing a printer-friendly version for myself last night and then I decided to have a go at it. And it worked beautifully! I've already gone through my stash to see what WW and DK yarn I have that might be useful. I'm thinking that I want a rainbow color wheel appearance to it, but after sleeping on it I think I do want to have more than one color in each hexagon.
My only worry is that it'll look to hap-hazzard. A lot of blankets seem like a pile of hexagons were put into a hat and then drawn out one by one, and sewn together like that. I think I might actually map mine out. Not sure yet. But I still need to let the idea sit at the back o my mind for a few days.
college blanket success, her I come!!!

Fill in the Blank Friday #5
I remembered on time today, YAY!!! and know that lauren's got the mclinky running over at the little things we do... every picture is linked today. click and you will receive.
-------------------
1. This weekend for The 4th of July I'll be not celebrating. Actually, I will be turning in a last minute tea party coin design for a scholarship contest. I have some good ideas but I'm scrambling to get them down on paper, seeing as all designs are due sunday. yikes!
I could just sit back and read
all the signs. also, this one
needs to be printed and hung
on every politicians front door.
2. Fireworks are are nice, when you can lay on your back in the bed of a truck and watch the sky light up. they suck when your neighbors set the extras off during randoms nights.
3. Nothing says summer like WARPED TOUR! I seriously miss going to it but this and last year it's been held at a different venue from my first experience. I just don't like the change, but I'm sure I'll be going next year. Also, I took this picture:
Not like this particular one
is mine, but I have pictures
that are basically the same.
I must have been standing
right next to the person who
took this. Crazy.

4. My favorite summer memory is again, Warped. Seriously one of the best summer days I've ever had. I still have MGC's signature, from The Academy Is :D
5. My favorite thing about summer is everything. I have always liked it better. There's the anticipation for fall, the parties, the food, the ability to touch water and not freeze, the feel of UV rays on my skin, and even the triple digits. I love it all.
6. Summer in a word is necessary! Absolutely necessary.
7. If I could choose to have summer or winter year round I'd pick summer. I absolutely dread winter. Along with all the other problems, my emotions are directly in tune with the seasons. So I'm pretty much blech for two or three months. Unless it rains, which is a nice pick-me-up.

forgetterings
i hate when i realize all that i've forgotten. i never did my mad tea party with all the others and a fanciful twist :( was looking foward to finding a bunch of mis-matched cups and things around on the cheap, but i never got around to looking, and then i completely forgot and i ended up planning over it.
also, i've been thinking about my art history today. i know it sounds silly, but i really call it that. since i was teeny tiny, i wanted to be an artist. a painter. but everyone said that artists don't make any money. so i stopped trying to want to be that and started looking for some other niche that i could aspire to fit right into. but i never really found one that other people approved of. everyone else wanted (and still wants) to be a doctor, a marine biologist, a teacher - something that is clear, something that is precise and that you go to school, get a degree, and get a job. but nothing i ever seemed to like worked into that pattern. i remember distinctly being very embarrassed and oh, maybe disillusioned (is that the word) when i found out that "the business" was hard to get far in. by that i mean show business. being an actress. that's the one thing that's been steady, and it's not practical. not one bit.
okay, okay, i'll stop complaining. i've done four responses for the dual credit english assignment, read about 2/3 rds of the way through, and marked about half way through. I wrote bits and pieces of an application essay today. it's the schreiner one that i'm starting with, and i'll be recycling it for several other schools and scholarships. and i've applied for quite a few scholarships already. we shall see how the chips fall.
and now some great parodies of a WWII eara poster:
from 3 Lambs Studio.
I highly recommend looking through
the photostream. every print is great,
and they sell many of them on etsy!
come now, you can't have really
thought that I was from
"across the pond", as they say?
ps - that one's from google.
ah well, i suppose that'll do. i'm going to drop off both fill rolls tomorrow at walgreens and then after i get some theatre hours done, i'll be back here to show 'em off. cross that they come out good!

michigan & world cup
curious. very curious.
everything is so flat and green. honestly! there's a few hills here and there, but they are so perfectly placed (in relation to roads, etc) that I can't help thinking they're man-made.
we're sitting in a hotel in a squat little town called Charlotte, which I've learned has emphasis on the second, not first, syllable. The old telly is on some random channel so we can watch the Portugal + Brazil game. It's definitely good so far and I'm caught up on who's who this year. Several yellow cards for each team in less than half an hour, and it's funny to see all the reactions ... it's quite good fun. Though, being Brazil, I think this is going to get rough once the timer reaches sixty.
Today, no earlier than three, we're to head over to the inn - notice I didn't have to specify which inn; that's Charlotte for you - and start getting all spiffied up for the wedding tonight. Last night I walked outside with my neice to the back of the hotel to see the lightening bugs down in the bushes. She had bug spray all over her, but I only had it on my legs. Needless to say, in less than five minutes of walking out and back into the hotel, I had 12 - yes, TWELVE mosquito bits on my arms. Two more on my forehead.
The worst bit is that I rarely get bitten down in Texas. I suppose these Michigan flyers thought my sweet tea blood something just to their liking.
I forgot my camera battery so I bought a couple 35mm. I'll post those when we get back.

a FITBF from a couple weeks back.

it's monday - oops! i've nearly forgotten last friday's blanks. i don't remember what i was doing that day at the moment, but i do know my saturday and sunday have been FULL with shopping. shopping for others, shopping in new stores, shopping for Michigan this wednesday! oh my, an early morning on a plane for several hours and then we get to grand rapids :) that's one more state I can cross off the list!!
anywho, the mclinky is closed! but if you want to see more, go visit lauren over at the little things we do. she has a cute lil blog and many many past blanks to fill in ;)
1. The best thing about being in school was/is learning. there are other things about the school environment that are nice, but the absolute best thing is learning.
2. The worst thing about being in school was/is the requirements. japan has all these wicked geniuses coming out of it, and us westerners aren't so used to being the not-top-dog. so all the lil kiddies get to make up for the supposed lack of standards by taking a bunch of classes that most of us don't care about, and that are only useful in (also required) college classes. oh my, don't ever get me started in that rant again!
3. My favorite subject in school was/is history. you can get anything you want from it - english, math, science, ANYTHING! and if you really learn from it, you won't repeat your mistakes, and you can spot the mistakes of others as well. it's good when you have a really ignorant government.
4. One subject I wish I could have mastered/would like to master is French! I have absolutely fallen in love with this language, and I can't wait to study more of it in college.
5. I could never get tired of studying again, I go back to history.
6. The most memorable teacher I had was all of them. I'm not kidding. I've only been out of my school system for one year, and in that time, I realized that my district has outstanding teachers, and has a level of quality that is very rare. I still don't really care about sports (our football team sucks anyway, and will suck until the coach sticks around for more than a year) and our newspaper is pretty much unheard of ... But I value almost every teacher I've ever had. I remember their names and faces, and various good times in their classroom. All the way from kindergarten to this year just ended. Middle school is fuzzy, and I hated that place, but I still remember the names. I will be thanking my teachers specifically when I win that Tony award.
7. If I could choose between going to school for the rest of my life or working for the rest of my life, I'd choose working at school. I love school, but the frustration of not being able to choose my subject is so infuriating that I really am just exploding from the fact that it is still another year until I leave it behind. Teaching and inspiring others to love learning and the world as I do is on my bucket list.

Fill in the Blank Friday #4
oops! I've been doing so much crafting (mostly in my brain) that I've been out of touch with the calendar. okay, okay, truthfully, it's summer, and I don't care about the calendar, except when it goes by slow.
now, onward ye villian!
1. My dream vacation would be to travel the world, including my own country. There's so many places that I want to go experience for more than just a mere couple weeks, that I'll have to write down places on slips of paper and draw them out of a mason jar. note to self - that's a really good idea.
2. The best trip I've ever taken was STORY TIME: I took this crazy unorthodox trip when I was about seven. actually, more like ten or eleven. whatever... My dad and I needed to drive this car up to my sister in Boston. From Texas. My dad's friend is a semi big dude in this business and he was assigned to travel to all these random cities and do meetings. Boring details, etc, etc, long hours o driving and I end up several days late in St. Louis. I strongly remember my dad and his friend and I walking down to the arch. We've eaten, and we're walking back. It's dusk, that really good time that I'm creative and hyper and great. I'm running around ahead of my dad and his friend, around this courtyard thing with big squares of grass and sidewalk and no one notices me and I don't care and I can't see it but I know, behind me, that big huge silver arc is standing, guarding the west.
3. The most important items to take on a road trip are cameras (one disposable film, one digital), a notebook to scribble things down that you liked, and a road map. AAA doesn't make it worse, either ;)
4. The next trip I'm looking forward to is whatever is happening after I graduate college. I would love to take a month out and drive around on my own before college. Okay, that's not happening. I would like to do the tourist thing in my own town, though. Now that I have more traveling freedom, it's easier to see all the things that are fun in our town. You just have to look. Also, I'm supposed to go to Ireland next summer.
i find it curious that this the first interestingness picture
that pops up after searching flickr with "tourist" and that
it is in loas which i have felt connected to ever since
that silly country report project freshman year
5. If I had to pick one CD to listen to for a long road trip it would be my Old People playlist or From Under The Cork Tree. "old people" is a bunch of loud, fun songs that are great to blast when you want old people AWAY from you. From Under The Cork Tree is still the greatest album I've ever spent money on. It's perfect and I could listen to it over and over.
6. The biggest disaster I've ever encountered while traveling was on my sophomore NOLA trip. This is more of a 'bad' memory than anything..... It was the last day in New Orleans, and the end of trip surprise thingy was a boat. Yes. We had dinner and a stupid dance party on a boat. Big whoop. you couldn't even tell you were on the boat, and it was too cold to stand outside and act all boaty and what not.
Anywho, I was stressed because my mom guilted me into buying these pants and they were cute but they weren't working for me that day. My hair was really kinky. The humidity was high (even for south texas) and my hair was frizzy and kinky and wasn't drying, either! So I just pulled my hair back into a pony tail, which looked bad, because all the other girls were dressed up. It was just terrible, and I felt terrible and I didn't want to go to a stupid dance party. It did suck, and my first friend at that school, and my last, talked to me the entire time. About fun things, like rock music :D my 'boyfriend' just danced to bad music and dragged me to the dance floor. I walked away, needless to say.
7. My favorite traveling memory is ...curiously enough, I'm thinking about that day, and that day was good until that little part. Chris was super nice and I had a lot of fun talking to him. I suppose I actually kind of miss him, because he was my friend and the only one who stayed solid with me the whole year. Oh! and then this kid came over and did i-n-s-a-n-e magic tricks. Like, make you gasp in awe tricks. Cool.
Hm. I haven't thought about the good parts of that trip in a long time. However, when I went to super conference with UIL, I did see several isa kids walking back from the theatre conference: bella, randy, izzie, and I think zane too? randy was jumping ahead, no wonder I noticed him :o such a funny, sweet guy.
okay, i think i'm done rambling today. I need more posts, or they're all going to be long like this during the summer....

HUZZAH! the bunting tutorial.
well, here it is, folks. the bunting is done and will be wrapped nicely for summer. then, the weekend before that weekend in august, it will be taken out, lovingly ironed, folded up, and placed in a special pocket for a journey to it's new home - an unknown pretend locker space in the land of theatre geeks, showing it's face (or triangles) only when special day comes for a person meeting certain criteria.
aka, the bunting is for our theater club birthday celebrations. except, we're in a delicate spot at the moment and so, i'm not sure where bunting will spend it's days.
ON TO THE FEATURE PRESENTATION
This is the way I made my bunting. I read a bunch of tips/tutorials long before I did this, but I didn't follow specific instructions. Just the idea. So here's what I did.
Cutting Triangles. Okay, the the bunting itself is pretty simple once you get going. The hardest part (to me) is getting a template for the triangles. On graph paper, I sketched out a rectangle and it's diagonals. I erased off the bottom corners and messed with the angles until I got the triangle I wanted. it took a while to get it right, but it wasn't mathematically perfect. All it need to be is LOOK like it's a nice triangle.
To make a sturdy template, I cut out the paper one I drew, then traced that onto some cardstock and then cut that out. I can use it again when I make more bunting :D
Now's a good chance to think hard if you want a message on your bunting. "Happy birthday" uses 15 individual flags, including the space. Make sure you have enough fabric and remember that you need two pieces for one flag.
So after that, I spread out the fabric and started cutting. Then, I organized the triangles the way I wanted them. I made sure to stack them with the pretty side in, just like I had to sew them. That way, there was less room for mistakes.
By the way, I chose fabrics that don't necessarily go together, but ones that looked good next to one another. My blue plaid didn't look good next to the yellow circusy dots, but when I in added the green and pink prints, they were "linked" together.
Sewing the triangles. When the triangles are ready, take 'em over to the sewing machine (or your comfy chairthat you hand-sew in). I used a pin on each side of the triangle to keep it from going crazy, and also cut some slits after I sewed them up to help keep the shape nice and flat. I used a small, straight stitch about 1 cm from the edge. Also, I used a couple lonesome colors of thread. A light silver-grey for the bobbin and a pastel mint green for the top :)
Note - you don't need to sew the base (well, i mean the top, short edge) because it will be closed up later.
Once all that sewing is done, turn out your triangles. If you want extra crisp triangles, and I hope you do, then iron the flags flat. Are you ready to add on the message? If you don't want to, just skip past this part to the bias edging part.
Letteringness - There are many options for letters. I wanted a no-sew bit so that thread and stitches wouldn't show. and I didn't want much more weight because I wasn't sure (at this point) how nicely it was going to hang when it was done. So I opted for fabric paint and stencils.
I could have bought my own stencils, but I was picky and I wanted to try the freezer paper trick, anyway. It's really easy but you'll need some patience. Freezer paper is like a mesh of wax and parchment paper. Slick and shiny on one side, normal on the other. Make your stencils big enough, or you'll have this problem:
Note - for a stencil reference: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bellgirl/4593720296/ also, her blog is much better at explainging this process than I am! It's here: http://bellgirl.com.au/2009/07/tutorial-three-colour-freezer-paper.html
Carfully iron the stencils in place. The waxy other side will be a little sticky with the heat, and will stay nice and flat on the fabric. Beware though, these don't work more than one or two times, so be careful! Now, take the other stray pieces, like the middle of the 'A' and iron those on. SUPER CAREFULLY!
When they cool down, move them to a piece of cardboard and start sponging on that fabric paint. Follow any instructions that the paint might need. Other than that, peel off the stencils. I don't bother letting the paint dry first, since it isn't like regular wall paint. Isn't it fun?
Trim off any excess so that the triangle corners meet nice and neat:
Bias Edging The last step! Okay, check up on your triangles. See the un-sewn edge? That is going to go right inside your bias tape. Fold your tape in half, mark it with a pin, and then pin the middle. Space out and pin the rest of your triangles and MAKE SURE that they are in the right order! A couple inches out from your first triangle, start sewing to close the bias tape. Just keep going right over the triangles, giving yourself about 1/4 inch of room on the tape.
I used extra fold double wide or something whatever it was called. The great thing is: there is already a finished seam for you!
Just keep sewing. Remove your pins as you near them. (my machine gets moody around those pins.) Sew ALL THE WAY DOWN THE BIAS. You could use a decorative stitch I suppose, But I just used my mis-matched thread from earlier and a plain, straight stitch.
Sew a few inches past the the last triangle, just like at the beginning. Feel free to stop there and knot the thread. Curious about how to knot the thread? Here's how I did it:
And that's pretty much it! Enjoy your new handmade bunting :D
aka, the bunting is for our theater club birthday celebrations. except, we're in a delicate spot at the moment and so, i'm not sure where bunting will spend it's days.

Dark Blue for the very inside that only touches itself.
Orange for the very top of the outside of the bias.
Orange is where you nestle the edge of the triangle.
Yellow for pretty outside bias tape happiness :)

Not your average Friday.
okay, so the lovely lauren is taking a break....
so today i have some happy stats for the week :D
ps: all pictures link back to flickr. yay!
1 - Taking one exam out of seven. I exempted all four core classes (even though I shouldn't, but I did) and took two exams early. French was the only one left. There was way too much article stuff on there and I wish I understood it as good as everyone else. At least I liked the tense section.
2 - Speaking of school, I AM A SENIOR!!! (finally) thank you nickelodeon, I'm halfway there. I never really thought I'd make it this far. There are many people I wish could have made it with me, and I'll miss a few dearly next May. But I see that I've already said goodbye, and that's one less tear I'll have to schedule in on graduation day.
3 - Picking up a transcript request form. upperclassmen only, and I can request about 10 different schools to send my grades to. oh, and I've discovered that St. Edward's is already open! So, college, here I come.
4 - Getting the craft room re-organized, at least. I can see almost everything!
5 - Finding a huge, cedar hope box. (except, the seller dropped the ball. the next step is to use the telephone... I dread it.)
6 - Watching my dog curl up in a ball like a puppy, which he's never done until recently. His haircut makes him look so much nicer and younger.

Fill in the Blank Friday #3
1. One fashion trend I really regret is: well, my hippie phase, really. It was solely based off of the fact that everyone said I was a hippie, and so I kept dressing like it. But the problem was that I am attracted to the more relaxed version of a rocker look. So, it was halfway stuck in between. I'm a little better at changing on a daily basis, now.
2. The one thing that always completes any outfit is converse or my slip-ons sans socks. that is the key.
3. I would describe my personal style as a relaxed rocker meets college kid at the beach. Jeans, soft tee shirts and feminine blouses, with thin hoodies and knock off sun glasses. maybe a billowy skirt and a polo and vans or converse. i suppose you could call it indie. but that's coincidental.
4. My fashion muse is no one. I don't really take hints from anyone. I just pick out what looks good on me, and what is soft and comfortable. i like a lot of past trends, like vintage things, & LOVE thrifting.
5. If I could own one designer piece of clothing it would be anything from the Clandestine collaboration with DKNY. (or if i could live with the prices, marc jacobs accessories!!)
6. I would love to raid the wardrobe of Miranda Cosgrove. Well, actually i'd like to raid the costume closet. She always has the most fun looking clothes on.
7. Today I am wearing super soft shorts, slip-ons (no socks), and a cotton tee. yay for softness & summer!
PS - apparently i'm OLDER than miranda cosgrove. wow. though, looking up a simple picture of her, i do feel sorry (again) for celebrities. depressing, really, what people post and say.

I've got a story to tell today.
It's about a boy. [groan] Oh shut up, the lot of you! .... This boy has let himself go - his hair has grown out! It's almost long. Just a smidge more and it will be very flattering. I have an inkling his silly mum will be cutting it, but I wish I could tell her not to. So many boys just look so much nicer with longer hair. One just has to experiment to find the right length.
Anywho. So I noticed it today. and it wasn't like "WOW your hair is really long!" it was more of a "hey, i didn't know you had curly hair." [yea, well, it's getting longer] "oh. it looks cute though." but, BUT, it was like a weird thing for me. I couldn't stop looking at him. He doesn't realize that he's pretty photogenic, and if he just stood up a little straighter and maybe got in some pretty sunshine, that he would be so cute! And I just couldn't get his little curly curls out of my mind, all the WHOLE bus ride. well, it was more like half of it, but still.
Now, said boy has never really been any interest of mine, and it got me thinking.
About things. Things which made me a little sad. As usual.
Things like, why didn't anyone ask me to prom? I mean, I don't really care about the thing, but if you want to go to prom with me, then can't we go somewhere else too? Or can I suffer a night of prom and then we go somewhere else another day? Is that so hard?
I don't mean to be desperate, but I feel like everyone's so used to these girls getting boys or being involved with boys or just generally being That Type Of Girl. I don't mean ditzy or slut, but one that can flirt and be girly and cute and maybe even a little sexy. And I can be That Girl. Which would be appreciated. But it's not, adding to all the other things that are MINE first, and everyone else is more recognized for it. This is getting into a whole other story.
I would like someone to step up and say, "hey, I don't want any silly relationship rules and social guidelines. I just want to be friends. Can we go get some ice cream and wander around being stupid and taking pictures and holding hands because it's cute and well, I like looking cute, darn tootin'."
PS: BWAHAHAHA I couldn't resist putting a wittle baby turtle for the 'cute' reference. There were lots of other animals, but I want permitted photos. And, it directly relates to the described cuteness. AND AND the reading cop relates to the 'story' bit, and the Mulan screencap, well... it's MULAN, of course it relates. Beside, that cpatin has the hottest voice. Oh, yea, what a man :P

original post here.

1. The very best thing about the summeris used to be randomly meeting up with elliot and cole and ridding bikes up and down the hill because my over-protective parents wouldn't let me ride past the hill. so they and elliots and coles brothers would try to get me to ride, and then they'd all leave, and elliot and cole would kinda ask too, but i'd say no, and then i'd leave to go back to my over-protective parents. it's still hard and i have to correct myself now and use past tense. it's not fair that i have to use past tense for this. it's silly how much I miss this.
2. My first crush ever was this kid named Nick. All the girls loved him. He actually "went out" this girl that i am kind of good friends with. that was back in ... eh... 2nd grade? he moved away in 4th grade and I stopped liking him soon after. but she's so nice and i'm kind of usually nice, and we have random classes together and we say hi and here we are, end of junior year, laughing about theatre and crazy Gatsby.
3. This may sound really silly but I've always had a thing for guys that remind me of the captain in Mulan that she ends up in love (of course) with, and I think I'll Make a Man Out of You is a quite sexy song. well, at least the chorus. and where the captain sings. actually, only when the captain sings. and talks. yes.
4. I squeeze my toothpaste from the top. when i pick it up, my thumb is at the top, and when i squeeze it, that's where the leverage ends up at and so that's the biggest dent. when it stops working so much I smoosh all the toothpaste from the end to the front using the end of the counter.
5. My absolute favorite "comfort food" is buttery, salty, cheezy, Idaho potatoes... and cookies, especially chocolate chip. But not together (:
6. A random fact about me is that I do judge and, even if you're a great person, if you are in my sight in the wrong place at the wrong time, I can pretty much hate you. and then everything then on is used against you so that I sound more legit. even though you probably are annoying. and use stupid accents. and get moody when someone critiques you. and even though people are constantly doing the 'shooting-myself-in-the-head' sign thing whenever your speak, and even a teacher has done it, even though you can't listen to me as we do a duet scene, that's okay. i'm sure you're a really great person. i just can't see it. ...... .... Okay, yes i'm ranting on about someone particular. and i do all these things, and i know i shouldn't. but i do.
7. The one piece of technology that truly makes my life better and I couldn't live without is the digital camera. I love all kinds of photography but I love that I can decide if I really want to spend money on developing a picture, or if it should just go away. Huzzah for conservation!(?) I do wish my current digital camera had a viewfinder. sometimes just can't beat that little glass window for a new point of view. what can i say, i like the nostalgia :)

lookee! i'm doing it again!
signing up for things that are amazing, hoping i can actually do them! i think i might be on a plane which would be wonderfully creative. i can see it now - some wacky hats, plastic tea cups from goodwill & 3 oz bottles of tea hiding in our purses. ahh that sounds so silly and fun and great. I DO wish to get a colorful cocktail dress for the wedding - i don't like to be in black for weddings, and i think that white should only be worn by the bride. i'm getting side tracked....

Fill In the Blank Friday #1
Maybe this will help me post more often... I check my dashboard way to much to excuse myself from posting here. oh, and the original post here & carrie's post here
1. My favorite book growing up was the 'dark green dots'. There was this reading program thing at my elementary school, and colors stood for your reading level. Dark green (like Beverly Cleary's books) was just above average , but I read so much that my teacher kept moving me up. I eventually got to the blues in 3rd or 4th grade, by the time the program faded out, so I got to read HP and other harder books, but I still thought the best books were the dark green ones. (ps - there is a movie soon out about this book. it doesn't seem anything like the book i read!)
2. The funniest book I've ever read was... oh, when have I ever really laughed at a book? Besides HP, because I'm trying to be creative here. Hmm, just had a glance at my book shelf, and I think it's the Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series, that I just finished back in February. The film that Nickelodeon made is nothing nothing nothing like the books. The majority of the plot in the film never even happens in the books. Ever. But it is probably the most light-hearted book I've read in a while. You have to have been a 14 year old girl to understand and laugh at it.
3. The one book that has truly changed my life is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. My sister gave this book to me for my eleventh (?) birthday. I didn't get why she thought it was so great, and I didn't like it at first. I had only heard whispers of it, because I wasn't a reader then like I am now. I wasn't even a fan at first. I thought the names were weird, and that only stupid nerd boys liked wizard books. I can't even express how much this series has changed my life. Now, I pretty much life my life thinking What Would Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore Do? (begin shameless promotion of awesomeness) Visit the HP Alliance to fight the Dark Arts in the real world.
4. If you're looking for a real "tear jerker" you should probably read How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff. It's full of teen agnst, commentary on war and the current word, and of course, the struggle to find the simplicity of happiness and love. Okay okay, so, more teen angst. But, BUT, I've read this book more than twice, and every. single. time. I cry like a baby by the end. It is a somewhat typical young adult novel, but it focuses on the adult, not the young. It is pieced together wonderfully. The main character's world isn't really defined in detail, so you can't really figure out exactly what the war is about that is going on around the MC, or why it even started in the first place, or why people can't just stop the fighting. If you read the book, hopefully that will drive you crazy too, until you realize that that's the true to life gosh darn reality, and then, you will just be sad. On top of the actual story, too. Which is beautiful and somewhat tragic. Just read this book, okay?
5. If I could meet any author living or dead I would want to meet ... hmm. I am going to be a little less deep on this one and choose Thomas Jefferson. After all he is the author of the Declaration... I'd ask a few questions. Why all the funky capitalization? Also, what does he think about how far this country has come? And other nerdy journalist questions. I'd be writing a feature on that one.
6. The next book on my "to read" list is: eve·ry·thing (ěv'rē-thĭng') pron.
1. All things or all of a group of things; All relevant matters: told each other everything.
2. The most important fact or consideration: In business, timing is everything.
photos from carmel kozlov & patgrider @ flickr, respectively
7. If I was snowed into remote cabin in the woods and could only choose three books to bring with me I'd bring two books I love and one book I haven't read. One - Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows, only because I've read PoA the most, and DH only 4 times. (nerd alert!) Two - Possibly The Great Gatsby because I've just read it. Or maybe The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Or maybe Wuthering Heights with a pen and pencil, so I can finally figure out where everything is happening. I always loose track. Three - The Bible, both parts. I've never read it, and I wish to read it without anyone else really knowing unless I say something, because I don't want anyone thinking I'm reading it because I want to be Christian - because I am not reading it for that purpose. I want to read it to satisfy my own personal curiosity, and to read a (supposedly) wonderful piece of literature.
that's it for this friday! see you next week!
