new books:
(one down, one to go!)

yep, bought these two beauties in the airport friday morning. I couldn't make myself stop (!) so I just kept reading. Reading on the first flight to Atlanta, and during my extended layover, and on the delayed flight to Boston, and FINISHED before we even started descending :) I read the one on the left, The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins. It's wonderful really, although I'm a little frustrated that it's another series. I've been in the mood for stand alone books lately, which is just as well. I nearly always read series books, and I don't think I've read anything besides since last summer I think... except for school reading, which doesn't really count.

I've only read a couple pages of Atlas Shrugged. I am seriously excited about this book!

colorful swatches:

I went with my sister and her sister (yes, I know. it's complicated.) to Lowe's last night to look for some ceiling fans for the new house that my sister is moving into. We got distracted looking at paint chips and oh my goodness all the names!!!

ANYWAY :) It's a really old house and a bachelor - a teacher, too, nonetheless - lived in it for a number of years, so it needs a lot of work. Nothing really bad, but I don't think it's had an love for a while. Since codes have changed so much since the 50s, my sister and the headmaster are having it inspected and updated so that it's nice and safe for the two widdle kiddos.

Did I mention that the house is on campus and she's getting it free?! Well, last I heard it was going to be free. It's kind of small, and it's right in the corner of little circle of villa-style homes. Most of them have been transformed into classrooms, and the courtyard is nearly always full of school children drawing with chalk and whatnot. But she's an elementary school teacher anyway, and both the kiddos are attending the school now, so it just makes more sense. The house is a little small, and there's hardly any yard. But it's all cozy and she wont have to worry about making ends meet anymore, which means a couple more days a month that she can put money in savings and pay our dad back the old loan and pay bills and even spending a little on herself.

Surfing lesson today @ 2:30, and then some fun in the beach and town of Rye. Long drive but totally worth it.

Ridiculous

1. stressed is only desserts spelled backwards... [2/365],
2. Stress pigs Dave,
3. Mini feeling: relaxed,
4. stressthoughts

It is completely ridiculous how stressed out I am already.
I need Saturday to come faster. Like, now.
Also, I am doing nothing productive during the week after next.
Thank you very much.
But oh my, I have sooooooooooo much to do.

:*(

(those are tears, mind you)
And I really need to stop thinking about making a to-do list
because it is incredibly harmful to my well-being. Which means bad.
skgo;sjrgd = my mind. argh.

hope you're well.

Fill In The Blank #7

thanks to lauren and her blog, again!!

untitled

this one's mine :D

1. A very nostalgic place that reminds me of being a kid is the bus. I think almost all of my fond younger/childhood memories were made on the big yellow bus speeding us home.

2. If someone really wants to show me how much they love me they wouldn't feel the need to say it, or vice versa. they would just show it and know.

3. Lately I've been wondering a lot about college. don't even get me started.

4. When it comes to saving money I am too frugal sometimes.

5. I'd prefer animals over humans any day!

6. I wish I knew how to make those little origami stars; i never get them right.

7. I'm just waiting for scholarship application confirmations.

new color.

i was trying to go with a wizard of oz inspired color, but i couldn't find a good elphaba green. so i was trying to get glinda powaer blue that looks good on both grey and white. it's a fail. maybe i should look into some death eater scarlet?

Fill in the Blank Friday #6

yessiree, we've made it to FITBF six. oui oui!
check out the little things we do, seriously!

_____________________

1. My favorite thing about this week has been taking tape off of the windows that I worked on for the Annie set - the new york city skyline. Lovely.

Theatre stage set

well, this isn't the set.
i'll have to take some pictures
either tomorrow or sunday.

2. The weather this week has been too random. figure out the summer yet, texas?

3. The last (interesting) item I received in the mail was some stupid college change your life letter. I have my list of colleges, and I'll figure out what I want without your help, thanks.

4. The last movie I saw was errr Sorcerer's Stone, last night. Partly. A new one? Avatar about a month ago.

5. If I could be doing anything I felt like today I would not change anything. Today just happened to end well. It's basically what I want to do. I would rather be on stage than watch it, but I did have a second row seat.

stagehands at work
Easily the best crew job.
Sweeping the stage.

6. As a teenager I was am AWESOME
. I'm not being conceited. I just like to be awesome. It's better than being a douche, or a wannabe or a teenie or something else lame. Besides, awesome is kind of a pre-requisite for theatre geeks.

7. I wish I could trade lives for the day with a director or producer. See for once what it's like being on the other end of the conversation and creative vision.

Mosaic: Musicals;

It was hard to find some good pictures that captured theatre well and not just with the professionals and Wicked. Also, I wanted to go with a handful of different Annie's, in honor of my hours being put in this month. But, there was only the movie version.

Here you go ;)

Shakespeare + modern day kitchen + black and white = awesome juxtaposition.

1. Tea,
2. Amateur day,
3. Stage Museum,
4. Fred Astaire

LOOK AT WHAT I MADE!

H E X A G O N!

a green crochet hexagon!!

I was organizing a printer-friendly version for myself last night and then I decided to have a go at it. And it worked beautifully! I've already gone through my stash to see what WW and DK yarn I have that might be useful. I'm thinking that I want a rainbow color wheel appearance to it, but after sleeping on it I think I do want to have more than one color in each hexagon.

My only worry is that it'll look to hap-hazzard. A lot of blankets seem like a pile of hexagons were put into a hat and then drawn out one by one, and sewn together like that. I think I might actually map mine out. Not sure yet. But I still need to let the idea sit at the back o my mind for a few days.

college blanket success, her I come!!!

-------------------

1. This weekend for The 4th of July I'll be not celebrating. Actually, I will be turning in a last minute tea party coin design for a scholarship contest. I have some good ideas but I'm scrambling to get them down on paper, seeing as all designs are due sunday. yikes!

_IGP0015
I could just sit back and read
all the signs. also, this one
needs to be printed and hung
on every politicians front door.

2. Fireworks are are nice, when you can lay on your back in the bed of a truck and watch the sky light up. they suck when your neighbors set the extras off during randoms nights.

Got Matches?

3. Nothing says summer like WARPED TOUR! I seriously miss going to it but this and last year it's been held at a different venue from my first experience. I just don't like the change, but I'm sure I'll be going next year. Also, I took this picture:

Cobra
Not like this particular one
is mine, but I have pictures
that are basically the same.
I must have been standing
right next to the person who
took this. Crazy.

4. My favorite summer memory is again, Warped. Seriously one of the best summer days I've ever had. I still have MGC's signature, from The Academy Is :D

5. My favorite thing about summer is everything. I have always liked it better. There's the anticipation for fall, the parties, the food, the ability to touch water and not freeze, the feel of UV rays on my skin, and even the triple digits. I love it all.

I am a person who likes fire.
I did take this one, however.
Home cooked bar b que!!

6. Summer in a word is necessary! Absolutely necessary.

7. If I could choose to have summer or winter year round I'd pick summer. I absolutely dread winter. Along with all the other problems, my emotions are directly in tune with the seasons. So I'm pretty much blech for two or three months. Unless it rains, which is a nice pick-me-up.

the nephew
took this one as well. i love it.
